I want you to try something. It’s something very small but I think it could be important.
I want you to do something nice for someone today that you wouldn’t normally do. I know you probably do anyway but please bear with me. Just do one nice thing for someone else you come in contact with today. I know it’s challenging to go up to someone crying and say “Can I help at all?” or take the time to help someone struggling with something heavy but I honestly think that a small action like that will benefit both of you, even if the recipient doesn’t take you up on the offer. Just offering an unsolicited moment of positive interaction, without any judgement or ulterior motive, will mean more than you may realize.
You shouldn’t risk your own health and safety to accomplish this. You don’t have to report back or anything like that. Just try it once. If you don’t like it, I promise not to ask it of you again.
If you do try it and it makes a difference for you, try to make it a daily thing. You can stop when it stops making you happy.
